Silk Restaurant is pleased to announce the premiere of the kaiseki dining experience, a one-of-a-kind exquisite culinary adventure that is rooted in ancient Japanese tradition.
Kaiseki is an Asian culinary art form that dates back to the 1700’s, when elaborate and beautiful tea ceremonies were performed to entertain and welcome guests. During these ceremonies, a series of beautifully presented, small meals featuring the freshest ingredients were served. These dishes were called kaiseki, since the small meals are similar in purpose to the warm stones (seki) which Buddhist priests put in their kimono pockets (kai) while studying and meditating to forget their empty stomachs during fasting.
Silk’s executive chef Kochi Chiba, voted by USA Today as one of the top three kaiseki masters in America, will personally design an exclusive seven or 10 course menu. All of the ingredients are hand-selected by the chef to ensure quality and freshness. Seasonal ingredients are the cornerstone of the kaiseki dinner, and only fresh, natural ingredients are used. Presentation and visual appeal are foundations of the experience, and guests are ensured private treatment and VIP hospitality. A pillar of the kaiseki concept is to revere in the ornate presentation and quality of the cuisine, as well as the atmosphere and hospitality from the chef.
