Anna & Raymond Hsu - Silk's Owners

Silk is owned and operated by Anna and Raymond Hsu, longtime Atlanta restaurateurs who own Hsu’s Gourmet Chinese and Pacific Rim Bistro both on Peachtree Center Avenue.

Always present at their restaurants, Raymond and Anna believe in Southern Hospitality (with a capital S) even though they are Southern by transplantation.

Raymond is a native of Hong Kong, where his family has been in the restaurant business for over twenty years. With a degree in Electrical Engineering and a work history that includes Boeing, you'd wonder why he decided to become a restaurateur. Perhaps one feels comfortable doing what one grew up with and so it is no surprise that when he met Anna who is of Chinese descent and a native of Korea, and who also comes from a family involved for over 30 years in the restaurant industry, that they would put two-and-two together and become tremendously successful making people happy over food.

Anna and Raymond met in Seattle while they were both in university. After they were married, they dreamed of owning and operating their own business and after a move to Atlanta, their dreams were realized. Their first exploration into the culinary business in Georgia was at Empress of China II formally located in Marietta, GA. Then, they opened Hsu's Gourmet Chinese in Tower Place in Buckhead.

As their son and daughter aged and it was no longer necessary to be close to home, the Hsu’s wanted to be part of the excitement in downtown Atlanta life: Hsu's Gourmet Chinese Restaurant was then relocated to its current location in the heart of the city. Being just a block away from the Hyatt Regency, the Marriott Marquis, the Hilton, the Ritz-Carlton, and the Westin Peachtree, proved a boon for convention dining as well as providing reasonably priced luncheon fare for office workers in nearby towers.

Pacific Rim Bistro, their second downtown restaurant, is located just 2 blocks north of Hsu's Gourmet Chinese, at the corner of Baker Street and Peachtree Center Avenue. Pacific Rim Bistro offers pan-Asian cuisine, specifically a variety of menu items ranging from dishes of the frozen tundra of Mongolia to the tropics of Thailand. Additionally, if you love sushi, Pacific Rim Bistro is THE place downtown to find the freshest sushi and sashimi.

Because Raymond and Anna speak English, Korean, Chinese, and some Japanese, visitors from around the world feel comfortable calling in from the four corners of the world to book banquets and à la carte dinners. The Hsu’s have been honored by Atlanta organizations such as the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association who appreciate that this dynamic couple is Atlanta's ambassadors, introducing everyone to the diversity and wonders of this exciting restaurant community.

Silk in Midtown is unlike the other two restaurants which rely heavily upon the convention and travel visitor. Silk is mainly a ‘local dining destination’ pulling clientele from the condos and residences that surround it. The Hsu’s attention to décor, menu and pricing at Silk reflect their interest in satisfying this core segment of the intown resident.

However, being just 2 miles from downtown means conventioners still find their way to Silk, knowing full well the kind of attention to detail that the Hsu’s demand in their establishments.
